Sustainability

Safety, health and the environment first

Our goal at Master Drilling is to achieve zero incidents and injuries – not just within our company but through active support of our partners and customers in achieving this goal.

Risk assessments are conducted to identify and understand all potential hazards. The safety of our customers’ employees hinges on proactive practices.

We extend our zero-incidents mission beyond Master Drilling by supporting our customers with in-depth information and practical guidelines on the safe handling of our products.

Safety and health

Leading by example in safety, health, environment and quality (SHERQ) management

At Master Drilling, our aim is to avoid any harm to people and the environment. We strive to continuously improve the quality and safety of our products and services. We view the occupational health and safety of our employees and environmental protection as a vitally important part of our business strategy. Our global, integrated management system helps us achieve these goals by embedding health and safety in our daily operations. Our proactive SHERQ culture also helps our customers meet their legal and safety responsibilities.

All of these activities fall under the wider umbrella of our corporate SHERQ policy, which is dedicated to uniting the goals of customer value and sustainable development.

Caring for the environment

Not only do we actively seek to minimise the carbon footprint of our own operations worldwide, we also work in partnership with our customers to minimise – or even eliminate – hazardous emissions.

Customers or partners of Master Drilling Group Ltd can expect a lot more than just the right products and services at the right prices. We have a duty to ensure that our operations have minimal or no adverse effects on human health and the environment. We frame our sense of responsibility in this area in our SHERQ policy, which provides a defining framework for various tools and processes that steer our daily actions and approach to business in general. Above all, it embeds a sense of responsibility at a personal level. Each and every employee of Master Drilling is individually and collectively responsible for ensuring that we meet our own standards and customers’ expectations.

In-house action plan

At all of our production and administration sites worldwide, we are constantly investigating ways to minimise the environmental impact of our operations. Our Operations Division tracks progress in this area by reporting on key environmental indicators.

Specific activities include:

  • Site certification (such as the ISO 14001 environmental management certification)
  • Measures to cut energy consumption
  • Reduction of direct and indirect greenhouse gases and other emissions
  • Waste management
  • Eco-friendly management of water consumption and wastewater disposal
  • Reduction of materials consumption (metal and packaging materials)

“SHERQ is 100% of our behaviour, 100% of the time”

Within Master Drilling

One of the cornerstones of our SHERQ policy is the reduction or elimination of work-related illnesses, injuries and incidents. Our basic tenets stipulate that all of our people must:

  • Have a safe and secure working environment
  • Understand and follow the correct systems, procedures and conduct
  • Work within an organisation which demonstrates strong visible leadership and rewards appropriate behaviour

And beyond

We expect people working for our partner and contractor companies to conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates the highest prioritisation of health, safety and environmental care at all times.

SHERQ values form an intuitive and intrinsic part of every investment and recruitment decision, business trip and site visit. At work or at home, developing or manufacturing our products, delivering to our customers, a proactive SHERQ mindset is firmly embedded within our value chain.
